Probably the earliest postcard of Government College, Lahore (now renamed Government College University or GCU), and mislabeled by the publisher, Fred Bremner (he got it right on future versions). It's main, church-like building was completed in 1877 and the college was in part the work of the great Hungarian Oriental scholar Gottlieb Wilhelm Leitner. The college counts among its alumni the poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Nobel Laureates Har Gobind Khorana (Medicine, 1968) and Abdus Salam (Physics, 1979). The main hall behind the steeple was recently named Salam Hall in honor of Pakistan's first Nobel laureate, and recently hosted Pakistan's first vintage postcard exhibition.

Postmarked Dec. 1903 to Dr. Brae Kenburg, "Oakfield," 21 Lueramore Road, London, England. [Recto] 17.12.03 Our best wishes to you and Mrs. BK for a very happy new year. Trust you both and the ch[ild] are well & flourishing. Much Love from Mrs. S. to Mrs. B.G.S."
