[Original caption] General Post Office. The general buildings of Madras are more than usually handsome. Along the seafront stretching north from the Esplanade are the General Post Office and the Bank of Madras, the Custom House, etc.

A later "Greetings from" postcard where the divided back, allowing people to write messages on the back of cards in addition to the address, allowed the publisher to put many more photographs of the place on the front.

An unusual humorous hand-painted postcard, as if riding high on a camel makes someone "high class." Hand-painted postcards seem in style to echo much earlier 19th century Company painting styles.
