The Mexican Nobel Prize winner Octavio Paz (1914-1998) served as his country's Ambassador to India in the 1960s, and just before he died left behind a memoir of the country, In Light of India (1995) which has a beautiful description of Humayun's

The Madras Club
The grand old building of the Madras Club, with the banqueting hall in the center. Founded in 1832, the "Ace of Club" as it was known was the second oldest in India after the Bengal Club.
The Deccan College, Poona
The third oldest college in India, this Gothic building and campus was opened in 1868 and has since become a leading post-graduate research institute.
Mylapore Temple and Tank - Madras
The Kapaleeshwarar Temple outside Chennai dedicated to lord Shiva is about 1,400 years old and this view is very similar today. Note the people in the foreground.

Frere Hall, Karachi
A fine example of the performative act that sending a postcard was when they first became popular. The nicely positioned and cancelled stamp, the sender's signature, "Doux Baisers" ("Sweet Kisses"), sent to his wife in France.
Shatrunjay Temples
An early postcard of the large complex of Jain temples in Gujarat state. There are nearly 1,000 temples in a complex near Palitana in Bhavnagar district which is about 1,000 years old and receives hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
