The city is surrounded by a bastioned wall, protected on the W. by a beautiful lake. N. and E. by a moat, while on the S. side the fortified hill of Eklingarh rises steep and rugged. The Royal Palace is an imposing edifice i8n granite and marble rising 100 feet from the ground and flanked by towers crowned with cupolas. [end]
