[Original caption] Ladakus, on the Thibetan border. These men, who are in reality travelling merchants or hawkers, are natives of Thibet, and during the summer months they journey via Kashmir into the Indian provinces. They carry their merchandise fastened to the backs of mules, and , wandering about the country, do a brisk trade with the natives, not returning to their own land until the approach of winter. [end]
