Types of Men (I)

This is actually a real photograph postcard of a water colour on paper by M.V. Dhurandhar, part of a series by the artist on the people of Bombay. The recent and first major book on him, M.V. Dhurandhar The Romantic Realist (DAG, 2018) has three of these water colours. One of which was the basis for another postcard, People of India. The water colours are about 24 by 17 cm, about twice the size of a postcard. Given how many postcards Dhurandhar had drawn by now, the water colors were no doubt made with the photographic transition in mind.
