One of my favourite, and among the rarest of early Bremner postcards. Its beauty is in how well it brings out the richness of the collotype printing process, where the density of relevant material in a photograph – often thatched huts in India – could be rendered with the texture that often escapes halftones. Note too the seamless transition from thatched reeds, to the house the weavers live in, and the place where they practice their craft and earn a living, for better or worse a fusion of nature and human.
