Municipal Buildings Bombay

When this postcard was published in 1899, the BMC building as it has come to be known across of Victoria Terminus railway station had been open barely six years. Today it faces one of the busiest squares in India; at the time the chief lithographer at the Ravi Varma Press Paul Gerhardt painted it, much of the square was still empty. Note the postcard title and artist signature and year, which would have been drawn on the lithographic stone.
