Founded in 1847 by Sir Henry Lawrence, what is now the Lawrence School is a prestigious boarding school that serves much of the country's elite and the middle-class aspiring to join that elite. Originally, like other Lawrence Asylums in India it was meant for poorer white and Eurasian children, often of deceased British soldiers. The rich gold embossed frame was one of the means postcard publishers used to keep their wares trendy, much like fashions in clothes drive new purchases.
