An Indian Rajah

An Indian Rajah

c. 1903
13.90x
8.80cm

This unnamed Rajah was a popular postcard subject, in color and black and white. Note how well the image was colorized during the half-tone printing process which had just started to become more widely used for postcards based on photographs. Still, looking closely at the man's cheeks one notices larger dots used on the printing plate, as in lithography, which gives them a deeper glow.
