A humorous card by one of the largest Raj retailers, comparing Western and Eastern cooks and procedures. It is signed by the artist Geo[rge] D. and dated [19]11 in the bottom right corner. It can be read as condescending a century ago - in India, a thin man is doing a matronly woman's work, sitting on the floor. Yet it also shows the equivalences between one society and another; other cards in the series contrasted Babus and City Clerks, Dhobis and Washer Women.
