Elphinstone College

One of the most educational institutions in India, Elphinstone College was established in 1856. Graduates include Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Sir Pherozshah Mehta, and Jamsetji Tata. The early freedom fighter and first Indian to be elected to Britain's Parliament, Sir Dadabhai Naoroji taught here. The building still stands, and after being part of Mumbai University for many years, has just become part of Dr. Homi Bhabha State University,
