Chenar Bagh

An early postcard of Kashmir by R. E. Shorter, a little known photographer who would have competed with Fred Bremner as one of the first to publish postcards of the princely state. The white space below the image would have been used for the message. This postcard was postally used in Srinagar on July 4th, 1904 and received in Somerset on July 27th, addressed to a Miss Hilda, c/o Miss Butler at Victoria Terrace, Burnham, Somerset. There was no message in front, and postal cost one anna.
