Most big Madras studios and retailers had branches in Ooti, among them Wiele & Klein, publisher of this very early court-sized view, possibly the earliest of the hillstation. The face of a Toda girl, who a visitor might meet once they make it up the narrow road in the ekka anchors the three vignettes. The largest shows the artificial lake at the centre of the destination set off by a deep black collotype forest.

Postmarked Conoor, June 1, 1899 and addressed to Capt. Graves, J.M.S. 20th M.I., Cannanore "Dear Douglas, I thought perhaps you'd like to see this p. card. The view of Ooty is now 'obsolete' (!) so to speak as the altering the lake has much changed it, I am told. Mrs. L."
