Singapore - Chinois Coiffeur un Indien [Chinese Dresses Hair of an Indian]

There are few postcards available of Indians who worked, often as indentured labor, in other British possessions before Independence. Many, of coolies in Trinidad, Ceylon and elsewhere have the flavor of Orientalist exoticism, like this example of a Chinese barber with an Indian customer. He holds a mirror in one hand yet looks away as we peek into an odd fragment of history.
