To be a named "beauty" on a postcard was quite an honor at the turn of the century. Rukmoni is shown here in a studio with colorized backdrop. The postcard, like many others by Ahuja, a Punjabi who was the leading photographer and postcard publisher of Rangoon also speaks to the close commercial and cultural relationships between British Burma and India.
