Ruins of the Rudra Mahal at Sidhpore

The Rudra Mahalaya Temple at Siddhpur was conceived and constructed as a tribute to Mahadev, by the first Solanki king of Gujarat, Mulraj (942-996 ACE). Twenty years after ascending the throne, Mulraj was in a position to turn to more unworldly things and decided that the bank of the river Saraswati was a fitting site for the temple. Started in 943, it was completed in 1140 ACE and partially destroyed by Alauddin Khilji in the 14th century.
