Sir Pratap Singh was particularly close to the British royal family, serving as aide-de-camp to Edward VII from 1887 to 1910 and maintaining ties with Queen Victoria and later George V. He is also credited with popularizing the Jodhpuri suit (bandhgala) in formal settings. A decorated British Indian Army officer, he fought in the Tirah Campaign (1889) and the China expedition (1900), and volunteered for service in World War I despite his advanced age. He was often shown on images with Allied troops during that war.
