An artfully placed stamp gives this card additional character. According to "the language of stamps" then in vogue, a red stamp placed at this ange would mean "I am true to you." In this case, it is likely that a design sense inspired the sender who wrote on the back to a Mr. Johnson in Illinois: "Yes, I would like to have some more cards from you."

Skeen Photographers was one of the oldest and most important photographic firms in Ceylon with roots going back to the 1860s.
