An early Tuck's painted postcard made to celebrate the 1903 Delhi Darbar. Viceroy Lord Curzon and his wife Mary are atop the elephant, their arrival opened the Darbar. Looking at photographs of the occasion, one would say that the artistic rendering here is quite faithful to the original and probably was inspired by photographs shown to the as yet unidentified artist "J.F." in London.
