While it is unclear where and when this postcard was taken, it could have been in 1899-1900 when there was a large famine in Hyderabad with relief works photographed by Raja Lala Deen Dayal. This may even be one of his photographs pasted on to a postcard back by the person who wrote the title in red ink. Note how thin the legs are of the workers, one can only imagine how difficult it was for them to carry earth in the hot sun for the sustenance to stay alive.
