This postcard appeared in connection with the publication The Armies of India by Col. A.C. Lovett and Major C.F. MacMunn (1911). Lovett served as illustrator, A. & C. Black was a high-end publisher famous for a three-color printing process used in illustrated books, and also in the postcards like this one used to help market the books (for another example of their Indian images, see their work with Mortimer Menpes).
