A complete video of the Paper Jewels exhibition opening talk by Omar Khan at the Bhau Daji Lad Museum on Aug. 18, 2018 which focussed on the history of early postcards in Bombay [Mumbai]. Includes introduction by Museum Director Tasneem Mehta, and post-talk discussion with Tasneem Mehta and Co-Curator Rahaab Allana.

The talk goes over the earliest advertising and "Greetings from Bombay" postcards, the first artist-signed postcards of the city by the Viennese painter Josef Hoffmann, the contributions of the Ravi Varma Press and its chief lithographer Paul Gerhardt, the publisher Clifton & Co.'s large variety of collotype postcards of the city, the extraordinary work of M.V. Dhurandhar and his types of city inhabitants, and, finally, the beautiful color postcards of Bombay from London-based Raphael Tuck & Co.
