The Karachi Congress party meeting, held six days after Bhagat Singh was executed on March 23, 1931, was a tense affair. It was here that Congress adopted its Swaraj (“Self rule”) resolution for full political and economic freedom from the British was adopted, the foundations of the future Indian state. The 1931 session led to an exceptional series of postcards by Johnny Stores, normally a photographer in Camp or the cantonment of Karachi with close ties to the British. This is one of about a dozen postcards made by the firm and circulated among supporters.
