A triumphal arch erected to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911, it was completed in its present form in 1924. The Gateway of India was built in the Indo-Saracenic architectural style, combining multiple design elements and influences including, 16th-century Gujarati architecture, Islamic design elements like the jali screens, Roman triumphal arch structure and was designed by a British architect.
Part of a series of embossed cards of Mumbai from the period that seem to be similar to the Delhi-based firm H.A. Mirza's cards, but could also be by a different publisher.
