Gopal Krishna Gokhale (1866–1915) was a leading moderate nationalist, social reformer and parliamentarian in early 20th‑century India, best known as founder of the Servants of India Society and as an important political mentor to both M. K. Gandhi and M.A. Jinnah. He worked within colonial legislatures and the Indian National Congress to push for constitutional reforms, expansion of education and protection of marginalized groups.
In June 1905 Gokhale founded the Servants of India Society in Poona to train a cadre of full‑time workers—“political sannyasis”—dedicated to education, social reform and civic work among the masses. Members lived on modest allowances and were bound by strict ethical rules, working on popular education, campaigns against social evils and the spread of constitutional nationalism.
Joshi Brothers was one of the leading publishers of postcards of political and religious figures.
